The Mission of the Stonington Historical Society is to preserve, interpret, & celebrate the history of all of Stonington.

We are dedicated to illuminating the history of the town of Stonington. Located in the southeastern corner of Connecticut, through our two museums and research library we offer artifacts and records that reflect the lives and fortunes of Colonial Settlers, Native Americans, and African American slaves.  These fascinating individuals were blockade runners, ship’s captains, whale hunters, patriots, explorers, artists, gardeners, and writers. We encourage collaborations, new scholarship, and conduct ongoing collection outreach activities.
